Kikugawa [town] - Kikugawa
A former town in Ogasa District, southern Shizuoka Prefecture. It straddles the lowlands of Makinohara and Kikugawa, and produces a lot of rice and tea. Horinouchi, in the center, is a thriving tea manufacturing and trading center, and tea is produced in a large joint factory. The Tokaido Main Line runs through the town, and the Tomei Expressway Kikugawa Interchange is located there. In January 2005, it merged with Ogasa Town, Ogasa District, to become a city, Kikugawa City. 63.88 km2 . Population: 31,240 (2003).

Kikugawa [town]

A former town in Toyoura County, western Yamaguchi Prefecture. Centered on the Tabe Basin. The main settlement, Tabe, located at the confluence of the Koya River and Tabe River, developed as a market town. Rice is the main focus, with livestock farming and vegetable cultivation also taking place. Watermelons and honey are local specialties. In February 2005, Toyoda Town, Toyoura Town, and Toyokita Town in Toyoura County were incorporated into Shimonoseki City. Area: 83.78 km2 . Population: 8,445 (2003).

山口県西部,豊浦郡の旧町。田部盆地を中心とする。木屋(こや)川と田部川の合流点にある主集落の田部は市場町として発達。米作を中心として,畜産,蔬菜栽培を行う。スイカ,蜂蜜(はちみつ)を特産。2005年2月豊浦郡豊田町,豊浦町,豊北町と下関市へ編入。83.78km2。8445人(2003)。
