Japanese: 菊川[町] - きくがわ

A former town in Ogasa District, southern Shizuoka Prefecture. It straddles the lowlands of Makinohara and Kikugawa, and produces a lot of rice and tea. Horinouchi, in the center, is a thriving tea manufacturing and trading center, and tea is produced in a large joint factory. The Tokaido Main Line runs through the town, and the Tomei Expressway Kikugawa Interchange is located there. In January 2005, it merged with Ogasa Town, Ogasa District, to become a city, Kikugawa City. 63.88 ^km2 . Population: 31,240 (2003).

A former town in Toyoura County, western Yamaguchi Prefecture. Centered on the Tabe Basin. The main settlement, Tabe, located at the confluence of the Koya River and Tabe River, developed as a market town. Rice is the main focus, with livestock farming and vegetable cultivation also taking place. Watermelons and honey are local specialties. In February 2005, Toyoda Town, Toyoura Town, and Toyokita Town in Toyoura County were incorporated into Shimonoseki City. Area: 83.78 ^km2 . Population: 8,445 (2003).

静岡県南部，小笠郡の旧町。牧ノ原と菊川の低地にまたがり，米，茶の産が多い。中心の堀之内は茶の製造・取引が盛んで，茶は大規模な共同工場で生産されている。東海道本線が通じ，東名高速道路菊川インターチェンジがある。2005年１月小笠郡小笠町と合併し市制，菊川市となる。63.88km²。３万1240人（2003）。
