Kikuka [town] - Kikuka
A former town in Kamo-gun, northern Kumamoto Prefecture. A purely agricultural mountain village in the southern part of the Chikuhi Mountains, it produces rice, bamboo shoots, chestnuts, shiitake mushrooms, tobacco leaves, watermelons, and is a thriving beef and dairy cow breeding region. In Sagara, there is the Aira Tobikazura (a special natural monument). In January 2005, it was incorporated into Yamaga City along with the towns of Kahoku, Kamo-gun, and Kamo-cho. Area: 77.38 km2 . Population: 7,815 (2003).
