Afrasiab (English spelling)

Japanese: アフラシアブ（英語表記）Afrasiab

These are ruins of a city dating back to the 13th century, located in the northern part of Samarkand, Republic of Uzbekistan, and correspond to Old Samarkand. Currently, it has an almost triangular plan, covering an area of 219 ha. Four city walls divide the city into Ark, Shakhristan, and Rabat from the north. Excavation began in 1874, but since 1958 Shishkin VA Shishkin has systematically investigated the area. The oldest part is found in the north, and the ruins date back to at least the 6th century BC. However, the remains of the main periods excavated are concentrated in the 6th to 8th centuries, and palaces, homes for common people, and workshops have been identified.

ウズベキスタン共和国，サマルカンド北部にある13世紀までの都市遺跡で，旧サマルカンドに相当する。現状はほぼ三角形の平面を呈し，面積219ha。四つの城壁により，北からアルク，シャフリスタン，ラバトに分かれる。1874年に発掘が始まったが，1958年以降はシーシキンV.A.Shishkinが組織的に調査。北部に最古の部分が認められ，この遺跡はおそくとも前6世紀にさかのぼる。しかし，発掘された主要な時代の遺構は6～8世紀に集中し，宮殿，庶民の住居，工房が認められる。
