A bouquet of flowers. A bouquet made of fresh or artificial flowers for gifts or accessories. A bouquet-like tassel. Around 600 BC, ancient Greece designated flowers to symbolize the gods, and during festivals, a wreath made of those flowers was placed on the head of the god's statue. In the Roman era, it was often used in religious ceremonies and festivals, and colors and designs developed along with the social background from the Byzantine world to the Renaissance, Baroque, and Rococo eras. Bouquet styles include cascade, round, crescent, basket, parasol, fan, ball, ribbon, and ring styles. Small bouquets worn by women on the chest are called corsages to distinguish them from other styles.
