Spoiler - spoiler (English spelling)

A plate hinged to the upper surface of the wing of an aircraft with low air resistance, such as a jet plane or glider. It is also called a spoiler. By opening it manually or hydraulically, it spoils the generation of lift in that area, allowing the flight altitude and descent rate to be changed, the landing and approach course to be adjusted, and the wheel brakes to be used to shorten the runway distance after landing or when the takeoff is aborted. Since spoiling the generation of lift also increases air resistance, it can be opened simultaneously on both sides to act as a speed brake, and by moving the left and right sides separately in conjunction with the ailerons, it is possible to turn without twisting the wings. This allows the area of the ailerons to be reduced, allowing the flap area to be increased, improving takeoff and landing performance.
