There are 40 species of Dudleya from California to Mexico, many of which are white-powdered, and the flowers are usually white with weakly fused petals. Eleven species of Pachyphytum and 12 species of Graptopetalum , both native to Mexico, have highly fleshy leaves and are cultivated for decorative purposes, just like Echeveria. The Japanese species Orostachys iwarenge (Makino) Hara and O. japonicus (Max.) Berg. have similar plant bodies, but the inflorescences are terminal, spadice-like, and the flowers are white.
