Qiu Feng-chia

…A republic founded by Taiwanese military officials and civilians who opposed the cession of Taiwan immediately after the Sino-Japanese War. It was established on May 25, 1895, with Taiwan Governor Tang Ching-sung (Tong Jingsun) as president and Taiwanese nationalist Chiu Feng-chia (Qiu Feng-chia) as vice president and head of the Taiwanese volunteer army, the era name was set as Yongqing, and a national flag was also established. However, following an attack by the Japanese army led by Prince Kitashirakawa Yoshihisa, President Tang fled to China on June 4, and Liu Yong-fu, who had continued to resist in the south, also fled to the mainland on October 19, causing the republic to collapse. …
