Kingdom of Pergamon

Japanese: ペルガモン王国 - ペルガモンおうこく(英語表記)Kingdom of Pergamon
Kingdom of Pergamon
Pergamum was a Greek kingdom that flourished in the 3rd and 2nd centuries BC. The city itself dates back to the 5th century BC, but became important as the capital of the Attalid dynasty. It was initially under the sovereignty of the Seleucid dynasty, but in 263 BC Eumenes I gained independence from Antiochus I, and his nephew Attalus I repelled the invasion of the Celtic Galatians and proclaimed himself king in 241 BC. Pergamum allied with Rome, which was in conflict with the Seleucid dynasty, and expanded its territory to Lydia, Phrygia, Lycaonia, and Piscinia by 188 BC. However, Attalus III, who had no successor, donated his territory to Rome in 133 BC, and Rome organized it into the province of Asia. After the fall of Rome, it became part of the Byzantine Empire, and was conquered by the Ottoman Empire in the early 14th century.
