Costa, AAda (English spelling) CostaAAda

In response, in September 1836, a radical group (the September Party), mainly composed of industrialists, craftsmen, and small merchants, started a revolution demanding protective tariffs for domestic industries and restoring the 1822 Constitution. In 1842, Antonio Bernardo da Costa Cabral (1803-1889) of the Charter Party came to power, but his modernization policies provoked a backlash from the conservative northern peasants, and in 1846, a rare popular uprising in Portugal, known as the Maria da Fonte Rebellion, took place. This rebellion was ended by the intervention of Spanish and British troops, but it also meant the victory of British free trade.
