At the southern foot of Mount Kanmuriyama lies the Kanmuri Plateau, 800 meters above sea level. Settlers arrived there in 1946, and around 1953 mountain huts and pastures were built there, making it a popular day trip destination for visitors from the direction of Hiroshima and Yamaguchi. The Chugoku Expressway, which opened in 1983, runs through the Kanmuri Plateau through the 2,190-meter-long Kanmuriyama Tunnel, and the Yoshiwa Interchange is located nearby. ...

The prefectural border is included in the West Chugoku Mountains Quasi-National Park, and the Kanmuri Plateau at the southern foot of Mount Kanmuriyama is home to a large colony of Renge Tsutsuji flowers and is also known as a campsite and ski resort. To the east of Mount Kanmuriyama is Ushiobara Onsen.
