Company Town

...Newly built housing estates are communities with weak blood ties and local ties. A town where one large company is located and most of the residents are somehow related to that company is called a company town, and this can be said to be a community with strong professional ties.
[Settlement size and distribution]
Because settlement size is closely related to population density and varies from country to country and region to region, attempts have been made by the International Working Group on Terminology of Rural Landscapes and by geographers of certain countries to group together a number of categories based on function and size from a global perspective.
