King of Egypt (reigned 317-283 BC). Honorific title: Soter (Liberator, Savior). Founder of the Ptolemaic Kingdom. A subordinate of Alexander the Great, he secured Egypt and Libya after Alexander's death, and advanced into the Aegean Sea and Asia Minor.
