Activated clay - Activated clay

White clay (a white clay whose main components are kaolin and montmorillonite) that has been treated with acid to increase its activity. It is used for adsorption, decolorization, etc. It is made by heating acid white clay or a similar clay with 20-40% sulfuric acid at 90°C or above for 1-5 hours, washing with water and then drying (120-200°C). There are various patents for the manufacturing process depending on the raw materials and the product's use.

酸処理により活性を高めた白土(カオリンやモンモリロン石を主成分とする白色粘土).吸着,脱色などに用いられる.酸性白土またはこれに類似の粘土を普通20~40% 硫酸で90 ℃ 以上,1~5 h 加熱し,水洗いしたのち乾燥(120~200 ℃)してつくる.製法に関しては,原料および製品の用途に応じ種々の特許がある.
