wizard

Japanese: wizard
wizard

...From the Middle Ages to the early modern period, this refers to a group of women whose existence was believed in Europe, who had special powers and were often thought to be harmful to society. However, although there is no Japanese word for "Majo," there were male equivalents to witches, and words such as "magician" and "sorcerer" (English: wizard, German: hexer, French: sorcier) were used for this purpose. However, since there were overwhelmingly more women than men, in Western languages, the word "majo" is used to represent both sexes, and we will follow this usage in the following description.
