Couzigou, Y.

…A method in which a suction cup is attached to the head of the fetus using negative pressure and this is then pulled to expedite the delivery of the fetus. The first person to put it into practical use was the French physician Y. Couzigou, who presented it to the Paris Medical Society in 1947. This is a device that pulls the cupping cup with four strings, but then in 1953, T. Malmström of Sweden came up with a method in which a chain was passed through a suction tube attached to the center of the suction cup, making it possible to perform suction and traction simultaneously, which became the basis for the current popularity of this device.
