An island located on the southern coast of Gyeongsangnam-do, South Korea, belonging to Tongyeong City. Its area is 17.2 square kilometers. Together with the nearby 16 inhabited islands, including Maemul Island and Gyoyu Island, and 10 uninhabited islands, it constitutes Hansan-myeon (village). Horticultural crops are actively cultivated, and fishing is also thriving. The nearby Hallyeosudo Waterway is a beautiful maritime national park. It is famous as the base of Admiral Yi Sun-sin, who defeated the Japanese navy during the Japanese invasions of Japan in 1552 and 1555 (the Bunroku-Keicho War).
