A family name (surname). [1] It originated from the first line of the Murakami-Genji clan, when Minamoto Masamichi (Kuga no Naidaijin)'s first son Michichika took the name Kuga, and his second son Michisuke took the name Karahashi. After Michisuke, the family died out after several generations. [2] Its founder was Ariyoshi, the son of Sadayoshi, a descendant of Sugawara no Michizane's son Takami. In the Kidenka (Kihiden-ka) family, Ariyoshi served as a monjo hakase, a samurai reader to Emperor Toba, and a chief priest at the Goshosho (book office). He continued to serve as a monjo hakase after that.Karahashi [Karahashi]Source: The Selected Edition of the Japanese Language Dictionary About the Selected Edition of the Japanese Language Dictionary Information |
