Art of the Azuchi-Momoyama period
In political history, the Momoyama period lasted for about 30 years, but in cultural history we take a slight gap and set the lower limit at 1615 (Genwa 1). Either way, although it was a period of less than half a century, activity in the field of visual arts was extremely active. The newly emerged, powerful centralized powers of Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi and others ordered the successive construction of magnificent castles, palaces and temples, and all fields of painting and crafts were mobilized to create these magnificent structures, which was a major reason for the dynamism of the art of this period. To list some of the characteristics of art from the Momoyama period, firstly, there was grandiosity and a monumental nature that strongly appealed to the senses of the viewer.
