A magic lantern spectacle that was performed at festivals and comedy halls up until the Meiji period. During the Kyowa era, an artist in Edo named Takamatsu Kumakichi invented a device that allowed him to paint colored pictures on a cut glass panel and project them manually. Using several magic lanterns, he could overlay images, make close-up images, or make blurred images. Some magic lanterns have the user recite the lines, while others are accompanied by a sekkyobushi joruri story. Famous artist artists include Ryokawatei Sen'yu and the first Tamagawa Buncho. This is the prototype of kamishibai (paper theater). Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
