...After returning from exile, AN Tolstoy, Ehrenburg, Mayakovsky, Pasternak, and others who belonged to LEF (Left Artistic Front) and the Constructivist Literary Center were also called by this name. The central organizer was Aleksandr Konstantinovich Voronskii (1844-1943, dismissed in 1927 as a Trotskyist), editor-in-chief of the magazine Krasnaya Nofy (Red Virgin Earth), who made a great contribution by defending the artistic value of Companion literature from the criticism and attacks of the RAPP faction.

...The core members of the group were Libezinsky, Furmanov, Kirshon (1902-38), and later Fadeev and Ermilov (1904-65). At first, they advocated a moderate line such as "learn from the classics," but as they repeatedly engaged in fierce debates with fellow literary advocates such as Voronskii (1884-1943), their political tendencies grew stronger, and they denounced non-proletarian writers, including Gorky and Sholokhov, for being vulgar sociological and overly focused on the world view, and their criticism was feared as the "club of RAPP." Their repeated creative slogans, such as "the living human being" and "the dialectical materialist method of creation," were also detached from actual work and did not bear fruit. ...
