Kamigata-shu

〘Noun〙① A general term for daimyo who had castles in the Kamigata region. In particular, it refers to outside daimyo who followed Tokugawa Ieyasu and participated in the Battle of Sekigahara. This is because it included many daimyo from the Kamigata region, such as Hosokawa, Ikeda, Asano, Kuroda, and Todo. ※Kanchu Himasaku (1775), 6: "The Kamigata people accompanied the Oyama of Nōshū in the 5th year of the Keichō era, and the affairs of the Sobe family at the Battle of Sekigahara in the same year" ② An honorific title for people from the Kamigata region. ※Jōruri Matsukaze Murasame Sokutai Kan (c. 1707), 3: "They look like Kamigata people, and have a worthy custom"
