Kamachi clan

...Located in the center of the southern Chikushi Plain, the northern half is a delta with a dense network of creeks, and the southern half is reclaimed land with a series of levees running like scales, with the entire area being low and flat. The old Yanagawa-cho town in the center of the city developed as a castle town for the local powerful Kamachi clan during the Sengoku period, and was the center of southern Chikugo. During the Meiji period, the Kagoshima Main Line and National Route 3 were built far away, so development stagnated for a time, but in the Showa period, the Saga Line was completed (1935)....
