...A type of clothing worn by lower-ranking government officials from the Heian period onwards. The jacket and hakama are a pair, with the jacket being of the blue-patterned type, agekubi, a single-layered garment, and the same shape as kariginu. The hakama are worn with narrowed hems. Shirabari means white linen cloth that is made firm by applying glue, and sliding doors made from this material were also called shirabari. They were worn by court servants, carriage attendants of nobles and samurai, and torch bearers. ...
