Parvoviral enteritis

This is a viral infectious disease that affects dogs and is transmitted by direct or indirect contact. In particular, large amounts of the virus are excreted in the feces of sick dogs. It is a relatively new disease that has been reported in various parts of the world since 1978, and dogs of all ages can be infected, but most cases occur in puppies under 5 months of age. While adult dogs have a normal or slightly elevated body temperature, puppies can develop a high fever of over 40°C. However, the high fever does not last and quickly returns to normal, and in severe cases, it may drop below normal.

イヌを侵すウイルス性伝染病で，直接，間接の接触により伝播（でんぱ）する。とくに病犬の糞便（ふんべん）中には多量のウイルスが排泄される。1978年以来，世界の各地で発症が認められるようになった比較的新しい疾病で，すべての年齢のイヌが感染するが，5ヵ月齢以下の幼犬の症例が最も多い。体温は成犬では平熱か軽度の上昇がみられる程度であるが，幼犬は40℃以上の高熱を発する。しかし高熱は続かず，早期に平熱に戻り，重症では平熱以下になることもある。
