Yoshishige Kanamori

Japanese: 金森可重 - かなもりよししげ

1558-1615 Azuchi-Toyotomi - A daimyo in the early Edo period.
Born in the first year of the Eiroku era. Adopted son of Kanamori Nagachika. Serving Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Tokugawa Ieyasu, he distinguished himself in the Battle of Sekigahara. In 1607, he became the second generation lord of the Kanamori family in Takayama, Hida (Gifu Prefecture). He studied under Sen Doan and excelled in the tea ceremony. He passed away on June 3, leap year, in the 20th year of the Keicho era. He was 58 years old. Born in Mino (Gifu Prefecture). His real surname was Nagaya. His given name can also be read as "Arishige."

永禄(えいろく)元年生まれ。金森長近の養子。織田信長,豊臣秀吉,さらに徳川家康につかえて関ケ原の戦いに功をたてる。慶長12年(1607)飛騨(ひだ)(岐阜県)高山藩主金森家2代となった。千道安に師事して茶道にもすぐれた。慶長20年閏(うるう)6月3日死去。58歳。美濃(みの)(岐阜県)出身。本姓は長屋。名は「ありしげ」ともよむ。
