Kachaashii - Kachaashii

Japanese: カチャーシイ - かちゃーしい
Kachaashii - Kachaashii

...It is also unusual that Noh music, which was performed among the samurai who worked in Yaeyama during the Edo period, remains on Ishigaki Island under the names of Oodo (large drum) and Kodo (small drum). The custom of singing and dancing by men and women in villages on Okinawa Island on moonlit nights has disappeared, but the custom of dancing with improvised hand and foot movements to the fast playing of the sanshin, called Kachashii, when people gather together, still lives on. [Misumi Haruo]
[Prehistoric Okinawa]
The oldest known human being in the Ryukyu Islands is the Yamashita Cave Man, excavated in Yamashita-cho, Naha City, which dates back to about 32,000 years ago according to carbon-14 dating. Together with the Minatogawa Man, discovered in Gushikami Village, this man is said to be of great significance as a definite Pleistocene human in East Asia.
