Eve - Ibu (English spelling)

The name of the first woman in human history (also called Eva, in Hebrew awwāh) who appears in the Book of Genesis in the Old Testament. She was deceived by the serpent and ate the fruit of the "Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil" forbidden by God, and gave it to her husband Adam, so the two were banished by God from the Garden of Eden. Because of this sin, women are said to serve their husbands and suffer the pain of childbirth.

『旧約聖書』の「創世記」に出てくる人類最初の女性の名（エバEvaともいい、ヘブライ語ではawwāh）。彼女はヘビに欺かれ、神に禁じられた「善悪を知る樹」の実を食べ、夫アダムに与えたので、2人は神によってエデンの園を追放された。この罪のために女性は夫に仕え、産みの苦しみを受けるのだという。
