A city in the southern part of Rajasthan state in northwest India. It is the administrative capital of the Udaipur district. It is located about 200 km northeast of Ahmedabad, on a hill about 750 meters above sea level in the southeastern part of the Aravalli Range, and faces Lake Pichola. It was built in 1560, and in 1570 a palace for an Islamic sultan was built on a ridge overlooking the town. The old town is surrounded by a wall, and in addition to the palace, there are many temples and ruins from that time both inside and outside the town. Mica, asbestos, marble, and other materials mined in the surrounding mountains are collected and distributed here. Population: 307,682 (1991).

インド北西部，ラージャスターン州南部の都市。ウダイプル県の行政庁所在地。アーメダーバードの北東約 200km，アラーバリ山脈南東部の，標高約 750mの丘の上にあり，ピチョラ湖に面する。 1560年に建設され，70年には町を見おろす尾根にイスラム藩王の宮殿が造られた。旧市街は城壁に囲まれ，町の内外には宮殿のほか当時の寺院や遺跡が多い。周辺の山地で産する雲母，石綿，大理石などの集散が行われる。人口 30万 7682 (1991) 。
