In Kabuki, the oldest works are Koizome Sumida-gawa by Horikoshi Souji in March 1758 (Horeki 8) at the Edo Ichimuraza, and Keisei Kataokayama by Nakamura Jusuke in July 1773 (Anei 2) at the Nakamuraza. In Kamigata, Nagakawa Shimesuke's "Katakiuchi Takane no Taiko" in August 1808 (Bunka 5) at the Kaku no Shibai in Osaka is known as the definitive work, and although several other works have appeared since then, they are rarely performed today.
