Enraku (Enjoyment) - Engaku

Japanese: 燕楽(宴楽) - えんがく

Chinese court banquet music. The name comes from the Spring Officials in the Zhou Rites. There are various theories, but in the narrow sense it refers to the Tang dynasty musical pieces, while the Tang dynasty's Du You's Tongdian uses it as a general term for the early Tang dynasty's Kube-gui, Shibe-gui, and Standing and Sitting Two-gui, and the Song dynasty's Shen Kuo includes Hu music of Western and Indian origin. The Qing dynasty's Lingting Kan regards the Northern dynasty's Yan music as opposed to the Southern dynasty's Qing music. In the broad sense, it is used as a concept referring to common music in general in contrast to court gagaku, and includes the Han dynasty's Xianghege (song and dance daikoku) and the Qing Shang music of the Three Kingdoms and Six Dynasties.

中国の宮廷宴饗楽。名称は《周礼》春官に由来する。諸説あり，狭義には唐代楽曲〈讌楽〉を指し，唐の杜佑の《通典》は唐初の九部伎，十部伎と立坐二部伎の総称として使い，宋の沈括（しんかつ）は西域･インド系の胡楽を含むものだとする。清の凌廷堪（りようていかん）は，南朝の清楽に対して北朝のを燕楽としている。広義には宮廷雅楽に対する俗楽一般を指す概念として用い，漢の相和歌(歌舞大曲)，三国･六朝の清商楽などを包括する。
