An old town in Toyota County in southern Hiroshima Prefecture. It occupies the southern slope of Mt. Noro. There are factories that make grinding stones, automobile parts, ships, etc. The town is famous for its production of Kawajiri brushes, which began at the end of the feudal era. The town runs along the Kure Line, and many people commute to Kure City. It is home to the Noro Plateau and Kashiwajima, a great place for swimming. It was incorporated into Kure City in April 2004.
