Year of death: 21st February, 1715 (26th March, 1715) Year of birth: Unknown. A writer of ukiyo-zoshi and haiku poet from the Edo period. Mr. Fujioka. Born in Osaka, he later moved to Kyoto. He loved literature from a young age, studied Japanese studies, and enjoyed haiku. He compiled haiku books such as "Totesimo" (1703 preface), and wrote four ukiyo-zoshi, including the miscellaneous story "Kamakura Hikoto" (1708). He later moved to Okazaki, Kyoto, and then moved to Itami in 1713. Recently, there is a theory that recognizes the ukiyo-zoshi about samurai, such as "Kokuka Shoshi Kagami" (1714), as the work of Gekkando. <References> Tsuyoshi Hasegawa, "Research on Ukiyo-zoshi," Hideki Fujiwara, "Gekkando and its Surroundings" (Kokugo Kokubun no. 676), and "On Gekkando's Samurai Stories" (Kokugo Kokubun no. 698) (Yoko Kashiwazawa) Source: Asahi Japanese Historical Biography: Asahi Shimbun Publications Inc.
