Kaze no Matasaburo - Kaze no Matasaburo

Japanese:
Kaze no Matasaburo - Kaze no Matasaburo

A children's story by Miyazawa Kenji. Unpublished during his lifetime. Based on "Kazeno Matasaburo" written around 1924 (Taisho 13), it was mostly completed around 1932 (Showa 7) by incorporating earlier children's stories such as "Taneyamagahara" and "Saikachibuchi". On the morning of September 1st, the village children suspect and fear that new student Takada Saburo, who arrived at a branch school in the mountains, is the child of the wind god, "Kaze no Matasaburo". As the episodes progress day by day, with scenes from class, an adventure in which Takada goes to play in the upper fields on Sunday and gets lost chasing a runaway horse, picking grapes after school and swimming, the children's feelings waver between Kasuke, who sees Takada Saburo as Matasaburo, and Ichiro, who sees him as something other than Matasaburo, but Saburo soon leaves. A masterpiece of boys' literature, richly shaped with local color through expressions that seem to breathe with nature.
