...The peoples who spoke the Caucasian languages ​​were the indigenous peoples of this region, and are thought to have once been more widespread in the Middle East than they are today. The Caucasian languages ​​are further divided into the Abkhaz-Adyghe, Nakh-Dagestan, and Kartvelian groups (also called West, East, and South Caucasian, respectively). The Abkhaz-Adyghe peoples number about 597,000 and live in various parts of the Caucasus, from the Black Sea coast to the central Caucasus, but in the Early Middle Ages they lived as far as the Azov coast.
