[Died] Xiande 1 (954). 1/17/954. Henan, Kaifeng, China. First emperor of the Five Dynasties Later Zhou Dynasty (reigned 951-954). Posthumous name: Emperor Shengshen Gongsu Wenwu Xiao. Temple name: Taizu. Father: Guo Jian, mother: Wang. Assisted Emperor Yin of the Later Han Dynasty, and in April of the 3rd year of Qianyou (950), became the governor of the Tianxiong Army in Yedu. In the same year, Emperor Yin was assassinated in a coup d'état, and the Later Han Dynasty fell. Guo Wei immediately entered Kaifeng, and ascended to the throne on January 5th of the following 1st year of Guangshun (951), founding the Later Zhou Dynasty. He was vigilant in domestic affairs, balancing duties and miscellaneous taxes, and working to develop independent farmers.

中国，五代後周の第1代皇帝 (在位 951～954) 。諡は聖神恭粛文武孝皇帝。廟号は太祖。父は郭簡，母は王氏。後漢の隠帝を補佐し，乾祐3 (950) 年4月，鄴都 (ぎょうと) 留守天雄軍節度使となる。同年クーデターで隠帝が殺され，後漢が滅ぶと，郭威はただちに開封に入り，翌広順1 (951) 年1月5日即位，後周を建国。内政に意を用い，差役，雑税などの均衡をはかり，自作農の育成に努めた。
