...The mountainous region is rich in underground resources such as iron, anthracite, and graphite, and various mining industries are thriving. The Qundong Mine is particularly famous for its iron ore with a purity of 55%. The central town of Kaecheon-eup is a key station on the Manpo Line, which connects Pyongyang with the Kangye and Manpo areas, and the railway line to Anju and Kusong branches off from there. In addition to the various underground resources, the city is also a transportation and commercial center for transporting agricultural products, mainly rice, harvested in the plains to the industrial areas along the Yellow Sea coast.
