Savannah baboon

Japanese: サバンナヒヒ - さばんなひひ（英語表記）savannah baboon

An Old World monkey of the Cercopithecidae family of the primate order. A general term for baboons that live in the arid zone of Africa. Refers to four species: the Guinea baboon (Papio papio) , the Doguera baboon (P. anubis) , the yellow baboon (P. cynocephalus) , and the chacma baboon (P. ursinus) . There is also a theory that the savanna baboon is one species, Papio cynocephalus , and the above four species are its subspecies. The Guinea baboon is found in West Africa from Senegal to Guinea, the Doguera baboon inhabits the area from the south of the Sahara Desert to East Africa, the yellow baboon inhabits Tanzania to Mozambique, and the chacma baboon in South Africa.

霊長目オナガザル科の旧世界ザル。アフリカの乾燥帯に生息するヒヒの総称。ギニアヒヒPapio papio，ドグエラヒヒP.anubis，キイロヒヒP.cynocephalus，チャクマヒヒP.ursinusの4種を指す。サバンナヒヒを一つの種Papio cynocephalusとし，上記4種をその亜種とする説もある。ギニアヒヒは西アフリカのセネガルからギニアにかけて，ドグエラヒヒはサハラ砂漠の南から東アフリカにかけて，キイロヒヒはタンザニアからモザンビークにかけて，チャクマヒヒは南アフリカにそれぞれ分布する。
