An Indian dynasty that existed in northern India from the 6th to the 12th centuries. They claimed to belong to the Haihaya tribe, a clan of Yadavas descended from Manu, but there is also a theory that they were of foreign origin. They first arose in Gujarat, and in the second half of the 6th century advanced into the Malwa region in the east, but were eventually destroyed by the Chalukya dynasty in the south. Next, in the mid-9th century, they established their capital in Tripuri in central India and ruled the Jabalpur region. They ruled for about 250 years while fighting with neighboring countries, and developed a unique culture, including temple architecture.
