A mountain in southwestern Sri Lanka. It is 2,231 meters above sea level. It is called Mount Samanala in Sinhalese, and has been the object of religious climbing since ancient times as the mountain where Saman, one of the guardian deities of the island, resides. At the summit, there is a rock with a large footprint engraved on it, and it is a sacred place for each religion: Buddhists call it the Footprint of Gautama Buddha (Sri Pada), Hindus call it the footprint of the dancing Lord Shiva, and Muslims call it the footprint of Adam standing on one leg.
