[Birth] Teigen 7 (791) [Death] Daichu 8 (854)? A Chinese poet of the late Tang dynasty. Born in Danyang, Runzhou (Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province). His pen name was Youkai. He passed the Jinshi examination in the 6th year of Taihe (832). He retired temporarily due to poor health, but later served as Sima of Runzhou, Censor-in-Chief (849), Yubu Yuan Wai Lang, and governor of Muzhou (Zhejiang Province) and Yingzhou (Hubei Province). In his later years, he retired to a villa in Dingmaojian, Runzhou, so his collection of poems is called the Dingmao Collection, and his style of poetry is sometimes called the "Dingmao Style." While many of his poems skillfully depict a serene poetic world, he also has a dignified style of poignant and sad poetry, and there are some excellent works of regulated verse that express nostalgic feelings.
