Japanese: お染・久松 - おそめ・ひさまつ

A character who appears in Joruri and Kabuki. In 1710, Osome, the daughter of an oil merchant in Osaka, committed suicide with her apprentice, Hisamatsu. The incident was sung in a utazaimon (traditional Japanese song), became popular, and the Joruri play Osome Hisamatsu: Sode no Shiroshibori (White Striped Sleeves) established its standard form. Other famous plays include Chikamatsu Hanji's Shinban Utazaimon (New Edition of the Song of the Sacred Flowers), Suga Sensuke's Somemoyo Imoseno Kadomatsu (Some Patterned Younger Sister's Back Pine), and Tsuruya Nanboku's Osome Hisamatsu: Ukina no Yomiuri (Colored Reading Sales).

浄瑠璃，歌舞伎に登場する人物。1710年大坂の油屋の娘お染が丁稚の久松と心中した事件は，歌祭文(うたざいもん)にうたわれて評判となり，浄瑠璃《お染久松袂の白しぼり》においてその定型を確立した。近松半二の《新版歌祭文》，菅専助の《染模様妹背門松(そめもよういもせのかどまつ)》，鶴屋南北の《お染久松色読販(うきなのよみうり)》などが有名。
