〘Noun〙 Sugegasa (a type of hat made in Kaga Province (southern Ishikawa Prefecture)) . It is said to have been popular since the Tenna period ( 1681-84 ), and was worn by women and nuns of townspeople. It is white in color, finely sewn, looks good, and was considered a high-quality item. 〘名〙 加賀国(石川県南部)から産出する菅笠(すげがさ)。天和(一六八一‐八四)の頃から流行したといわれ、町家の女房、尼などが用いた。色が白く、糸ぬいが細かくしてあり、恰好がよく、上物とされた。加賀菅笠。※浮世草子・好色二代男(1684)六「見る人なしと加賀笠(かがカサ)ぬぎ捨女の童に持せ」 〔浄瑠璃・女殺油地獄(1721)〕
