Hiroshi Okumura

Japanese: 奥村博史 - おくむらひろし

1889-1964 A Western-style painter from the Taisho and Showa periods.
Born October 4, 1889. His wife was Hiratsuka Raicho. He studied at the Japan Watercolor Association Institute and later switched to oil painting. His work "Gray Sea" was selected for the Nikaten Exhibition in 1914. He was also known as the creator of the finger ring, and in 1933 he won an award in the crafts division and became a member of the Kokugakai. He passed away on February 18, 1964. He was 74 years old. He was born in Kanagawa Prefecture. His works include "Encounter."

明治22年10月4日生まれ。妻は平塚らいてう。日本水彩画会研究所にまなび,のち油絵に転じた。大正3年二科展で「灰色の海」が入選。指環の制作者としても知られ,昭和8年工芸部門で受賞し,国画会会員となった。昭和39年2月18日死去。74歳。神奈川県出身。著作に「めぐりあい」。
