Mursili I

Japanese: ムルシリ[1世](英語表記)Mursili I
Mursili I
? - c.1590 BC The third king of the Old Hittite Kingdom. Reigned c.1620 BC - c.1590 BC. He ascended to the throne by the will of his grandfather, Hattusili I. When a rebellion broke out in Harpa (now Aleppo) in Syria, which had come under his control after his grandfather's conquest, he marched to the city and, after pacifying it, took advantage of the momentum and led his troops further southeast, where he attacked Babylon on the Euphrates River, a 1,200-km mountain river away from his homeland, the royal castle of Hattusa, and finally destroyed the First Babylonian Dynasty, which had boasted a long history dating back to King Hammurapi.
