…The traditional festivals of the Yi people vary widely from place to place, but the basics are ancestral festivals at the time of the year and pre-celebration festivals for sowing and harvesting. The most famous of these pre-celebration festivals is the Torch Festival, which is a traditional holiday celebrated by all the Yi people. Other well-known festivals include the Maitreya Festival in Yunnan, Lunan, and the Mizhi Festival in the Weishan region.
