Sanpei Pass

Japanese: 三平峠 - さんぺいとうげ

Located in the north of Katashina Village, Tone County, in the northeastern part of Gunma Prefecture, this pass is crossed by the Numata Highway, which runs from Numata to Aizu. It is also called Oze Pass. It is 1,762m above sea level. Along with Hatomachi Pass and Fujimi Pass, it is one of the three entrances to Oze from Gunma Prefecture and is the most eastern. You can see Lake Oze below, and it has a great view. There is a bus that runs from Numata Station on the Joetsu Line to Oshimizu, south of the pass. It belongs to Nikko National Park. [Arisue Takeo]

群馬県北東部，利根郡片品村の北部にあり，沼田から会津に通じる沼田街道が越える峠。尾瀬峠ともいう。標高1762m。鳩待峠，富士見峠とともに群馬県側から尾瀬への三つの入口の一つで，もっとも東に位置する。眼下に尾瀬沼が見え，眺望がよい。上越線沼田駅から峠の南の大清水までバスが通じる。日光国立公園に属する。【有末武夫】
