Peckinpah, S. (English spelling)

Clint Eastwood (1930- ), who worked with director Sergio Leone on For a Few Dollars More (1965) and For a Few Dollars More (1966), returned to Hollywood after being an unsuccessful third-rate Hollywood star to become an international superstar, starring in Hang 'Em Up!' (directed by Ted Post, 1967) and High Noon (directed by Don Siegel, 1969), and also directed Strangers in the Wilderness (1972). Sam Peckinpah's (1925-84) film The Wild Bunch (1969), which pushed the depiction of bloodshed and mass murder to the limit, is considered a representative work of Hollywood Westerns after the Spaghetti Western.

Meanwhile, Sergio Leone, the originator of the Spaghetti Western, made the epic Western (1968), which was shot in America and starred Hollywood's top star Henry Fonda as the villain, before reaching the pinnacle of the genre with Once Upon a Time in the West (1971), starring two other major Hollywood stars, Rod Steiger and James Coburn.

…《荒野の用心棒》に続いて《夕陽のガンマン》(1965)，《続･夕陽のガンマン》(1966)でセルジオ･レオーネ監督と組んだクリント･イーストウッドClint Eastwood(1930‐　)は，売れない〈三流ハリウッド･スター〉から国際的大スターとなってハリウッドに返り咲き，《奴らを高く吊るせ！》(テッド･ポスト監督，1967)，《真昼の死闘》(ドン･シーゲル監督，1969)に主演するとともに，《荒野のストレンジャー》(1972)ではみずから監督もつとめた。また，流血と大量殺戮（さつりく）の暴力描写を極限まで推し進めたサム･ペキンパーSam Peckinpah(1925‐84)監督の《ワイルドバンチ》(1969)などが，〈マカロニ･ウェスタン以後〉のハリウッド西部劇の代表的作品とみなされる。
