...Three years later, the establishment of the Agricultural Society, which brought together progressive landowning aristocrats, was permitted, and in 1861 the establishment of the Warsaw City Delegation, led by Kronenberg, was permitted (both of these would later become the moderate faction in the January Uprising). Furthermore, the opening of the Warsaw Central School was a major contribution, and the appointment of Aleksander Wielopolski (1803-77), a pioneer of the Positivism movement, as civil administrator was presented as a compromise measure by the Russian Tsar. However, this only gave momentum to the extremists, and in 1863 the January Uprising broke out in Warsaw. ...
