Relaxin

Japanese: レラキシン（英語表記）relaxin

A peptide hormone produced in the corpus luteum of the ovary. It is also called relaxin. In humans, horses, and rabbits, it is also produced in the placenta. It is said to be present in chicken testes and shark ovaries. In 1926, FJ Hisaw described and named the presence of a substance in the corpus luteum of pregnant pigs that relaxes the pelvic ligaments of guinea pigs. However, the details remained unknown until the 1970s. Relaxin extracted from pig corpus luteum has a structure in which an A chain of 22 amino acids and a B chain of 26 amino acids are bonded at two sites with disulfide bonds, and its action is to relax the pubic symphysis, dilate the cervix, and inhibit uterine contractions.

卵巣の黄体で産生されるペプチドホルモン。リラキシンともいう。ヒト，ウマ，ウサギでは胎盤でも産生される。ニワトリの睾丸やサメの卵巣にも存在するといわれている。ヒソーF.J.Hisawは，1926年にモルモットの骨盤靱帯（じんたい）を弛緩する物質が，ブタ妊娠黄体中に存在することを記載し命名した。しかし，70年代に至るまで詳細は不明であった。ブタ黄体から抽出したレラキシンはアミノ酸22個のA鎖と，26個のB鎖が2ヵ所でS‐S結合した構造で，その作用は，恥骨結合を弛緩し子宮頸管を拡張し，子宮収縮には抑制的に働く。
