The Ebino Plateau Hot Springs (alum and green ban springs, 96°C) are made of high-temperature steam, and the average temperature in summer is about 20°C, making it easy to climb the Kirishima volcanoes. In 1961, a toll road was completed that connects Kobayashi City to the plateau and Kirishima Hot Springs, making it easy to access Miyazaki City and Kagoshima City. The plateau is well known for its beautiful nature, including Mount Iou, which continues to have intense fumarolic activity, the nearby crater lakes Byakushi-ike, Rokukannon-ike, and Fudo-ike, the beautiful forests of several thousand Japanese red pines over 100 years old, the natural habitat of Nokaido (heaven), and Miyamakirishi (a type of cherry blossom).
